I’ve been keeping a close eye on the President and the calendar lately. Barack Obama is halfway through his term now and with the advent of the new year rapidly approaching, and the….NEW….Congress coming in, there is just one question me and my fellow People In The Struggle wanna ask….
Can a Brotha get a job?
Times are tough people! It’s not even nice to hear anymore when the government tries to lie and say the recession is officially over. That’s because more people have lost their jobs and homes since they first told that lie. People are starting to not only realize that there are no jobs out there, but that a lot of them are NEVER coming back.
What to do?
A lot of you may be thinking about going back to school and that’s a noble cause. The only problem is that there are people with Master’s Degrees and 15 years of middle and upper management experience competing with your 16 year old daughter for that job at McDonald’s. There just aren’t any jobs out there.
It’s time to break out of the box people. History reveals that by our very nature, the Nubian Nation are creators and possess the entrepreneurial spirit. In other words, WE ARE HUSTLERS so if we can’t find a job, it’s time to create one.
So I am going to start a series of blogs on Self, Incorporated – highlighting ways to make money online and offline. With the advent of the internet and instant access to information, the foundation of a traditional 4-year college is starting to crumble around the edges. I’m not knocking education in the slightest, I am just saying that there are other avenues of educating yourself than sacrificing two to four years of your life by going to school.
If you live in the United States, it’s really time for my People In The Struggle to wake up. For too long we have been just accepting our plight and thinking that ANY job is the be all-end all for our lives. We live in a capitalist society which encourages us to take that God-given entrepreneurial spirit and make the most of it. Think of any company in the US and I’m here to tell you that it started from nothing. Just a few determined people with a passion and a vision.
What’s stopping you? Fear? If you are unemployed, then you really have nothing to lose. chances are that you have been unemployed for at least six months and reports show that you will be unemployed for another year. How many times so you think they will keep extending your unemployment benefits? Do you think your boss is gonna call you back?
Really?
All that being said, here’s a great opportunity I learned about from the news. I’m sure you have heard about the number of people who now work from home. It’s not just computers people. The gambit runs from computers to consulting and catering. The key is to find out what you love to do or a great service demand and figure out a way to get paid for doing it.
